The ‘Department of Business Administration’ came into existence on 3rd Feb.1990 as a result of restructuring of the then ‘Faculty of Commerce’ into four teaching departments, namely (1) Department of Accounting, (2) Department of Business Administration, (3) Department of Business Finance and Economics, and (4) Department of Management Studies. Since then the Department of Business Administration has grown both academically and professionally. We have had a long journey of two decades taking the department to greater heights over the years.
The Department offers M.Com, MHRM, M.Phil, Ph.D & D.Litt in Business Administration. At the undergraduate level, the Department offers B.Com and BBA Degree courses in combination with sisters departments. Two separate Post Graduate Diploma Courses, namely PG Diploma in Marketing & Sales Management and P.G. Diploma in Human Resource Management have been running successfully on self-financing basis. Both the diplomas have proved quite useful as professional job oriented courses for past 20 years. The M.Com Program offers specialization in two major areas: The Human area and the Marketing area.
From the current academic session 2013-14 admission process has started for admission to the newly launched another two-year semester based self-financing Post Graduate Programme named ‘Master of Marketing Management’ (MMM) with maximum intake of 60 students. This programme will be run by the department on similar lines of Master of Human Resource Management, that is already run by the department.
The Department is staffed with and enriched by Three Professors, One Associate Professor and Seven Assistant Professors. Since the creation of the Department around 48 PhD degrees have been awarded so far, and around 45 PhD researches are in progress thereby usefully contributing to research for advancement of knowledge in the domain of business administration. Several of our Post Graduates have been very well placed in different organizations both in India and abroad.
