Welcome to the new academic session of 2013-2014 that has begun from 1st July 2013 with a renewed energy and fresh enthusiasm. I am extremely happy to state that our department is now staffed with six new assistant professors who joined in the month of February 2013 after their regular selection by the statutory committee. They are: Dr. U R Tater, Dr. Asha Rathi, Dr. Ashish Mathur, Mr. Manish Vadera, Dr. Ramesh kumar Chouhan, and Dr. Ashok Kumar. Now the faculty strength of the department has risen to eleven, including three professors and one associate professor.
Our Department has always been student-friendly and that is amply reflected in the increasing enrollment strength of our M.Com. Students which was close to two-thousand mark in the past academic session of 2012-2013. Here an important announcement I would like to make for all candidates seeking admission to our M.Com. course. A proposal is under serious consideration by the University that with effect from examination 2014 the viva-voce may be withdrawn from both previous as well as final year. If that is approved, there would be four compulsory papers in the M.Com. previous and two compulsory papers plus three papers of the opted Group, total five papers would be in the M. Com final. The name of the second and new compulsory paper would be "Fundamentals of Management Research" in place of viva-voce for M.Com. final year students who will appear in examination 2014. Thus, the M.Com. would be of 900 Marks (400+500) w.e.f 2015 batch of M. Com. final students, instead of 1000 Marks as it used to be so far.
Importantly, if this happens, all existing M.Com. Previous 2013 batch students have to particularly note that they will have to appear for a written examination for newly added compulsory paper named "Fundamentals of Management Research" (FMR) in their final year examination in 2014, in place of viva-voce.
Eventually, this particular batch of M.Com. Students would be the last one to have their M.Com. of 1000 Marks without a viva-voce in their final year examination but with a replaced new and second compulsory paper 'FMR' for their studies.
The next issue of "The Indian Journal of Business Administration" published by the department would be in your hands at the earliest with better lay-out and improved contents.
The department is proud to announce that as many as twenty one synopses were approved by the departmental council for Ph.D. Registration of MPET 2011 Batch of the doctoral students. Three candidates named Kusum Dhoot, Meenal Bhandari, and Ruchika Sharma of MPET 2012 Batch have started their Ph.D. course work.
Let us join hands to make the department a center of learning where acquirement of knowledge and skills is everybody's right with a spirit of cooperation and co-existence. Education is a liberating force and therefore I would wish, my dear viewers, that let us not remain prisoners of the past, let us work together and become the stars of the future. Have superior confidence as the saying goes: 'A mountain is not higher than your confidence because it will be under your feet, if you reach the top.' Love yourself; believe in yourself so that you can move mountains.
